Another mystery.  Of course, if true, it pushes the advent of intelligent humanoids 2,000,000 years earlier (Actually 2,000,000 minus 30,000 years) than the earliest ones found in Africa.  DNA evidence supports the conjecture that we descended from these proto-humans.  So what is this relic all about?  It implies that these is a separate line of evolution, distinct and different from the African strain that developed differently and remotely from that of the African proto-humans.  Not only that, but that it achieved intellectual maturity earlier  than the African proto-humans. 

And,  of course, died out.  Leaving our DNA entangled (apparently) with the African proto-humans.  That is, if you believe that conjecture that only (ONLY) the African strain of proto-humans hold the unique DNA signiture that modern humans have.

The strata where found is at the age of the dinosaurs.  Which means that the proto-humans who created this figurine looked like humans, but probably had dinosaur ancestors and not mammalian ancestors.  No wonder no-one wants to broach this mystery…
